Physical Therapists in NJ have "Direct Access" - but our clinic desires to
work closely with your healthcare provider and requires a referral for all
treatment, (except for the Golf Fitness classes). This referral can be from
a Medical Doctor, Osteopathic Doctor, Chiropractor, Podiatrist, Physician's Assistant, or Dentist.
|
Make sure you bring your physical therapy referral (provided to you by your doctor) and your payment information. If your insurance is covering the cost of physical therapy, bring your insurance card. If you are covered by
Workers' Compensation, bring your claim number and your case manager's
contact information. If you are covered by auto insurance or an attorney
lien, make sure you bring this information.

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. You may want to wear or bring shorts if we are treating an ankle or knee.

To initiate a program of therapy, the therapist examines the patient. This includes obtaining a patient history, performing relevant systems reviews, and selecting and administering specific tests and measurements to obtain

For the most part - physical therapy offers pain relief. This is often accomplished with hands-on techniques and therapeutic modalities.
Exercise and guided movements often provides pain relief as well. Your physical therapist will provide you with the appropriate exercises not only for pain relief but to recover from your injuries and or restrictions. In some cases, physical therapy techniques can be painful. For example, recovering knee range of motion after a total knee replacement or myofascial techniques to break up scar tissue. Your physical therapist will utilize a variety of techniques to help maximize your treatment goals. It is important that you communicate the intensity, frequency, and duration of pain to your therapist.
|
This is hard to say... You may need one visit or you may need months of care. It depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, and your doctors orders. You will be re-evaluated on a monthly basis and we will provide you with a progress report and our recommendations.
|
Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals who are experts in musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Therapists are trained to analyze movement and identify abnormal mechanics. From this assessment, a physical therapist will treat a dysfunction with manual skills. That will accelerate the recovery process.
|
Physical Therapy can be an effective treatment for pre natal / post partum pain and dysfunction, post gynecological surgery, incontinence / pelvic floor weakness and pelvic pain. Therapy for these conditions often consists of strengthening exercises and muscle stimulation.
|
Your therapy program will include an illustrated home program to be carried out independently. Our therapists use patient-related instruction to educate not only the patient but also families and other care givers when necessary, about the patient's current condition, treatment plan, and future transition to home, work, or community roles.

Physical therapists perform a comprehensive analysis of movement, which includes identifying the joints involved, tissue limitations, muscular
imbalances and structural pathologies. At Riverwalk PT our staff provides manual therapy, customized exercise programs, and biomechanically efficient patterns of movement to address limitations and return patients to activities important in their lives. Chiropractors vary in their approach to patient care. Some primarily treat the spine and others treat the involved
joint in conjunction with the tissues. In addition, Chiropractors can order special tests such as X-rays, MRIs and blood tests. Both chiropractors and physical therapists are integral components of a patient's medical team.
|
Riverwalk is currently "in-network" with Medicare and works closely with all major medical insurance providers. In most cases there will be a small co-pay to go along with your insurance. In many instances being "out of network" allows us to treat you on your terms and therefore meet your goals. Nobody wants to have their care dictated by their insurance company. Riverwalk PT attempts to have your care dictated by you, your MD, your physical therapist and associated healthcare providers.

All sessions are by appointment only.
