Lauren Castagna was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University for undergrad, majoring in Exercise Science and Sports Studies, graduating in 2003 with her bachelors in science. Knowing that she wanted to be a physical therapist, Lauren continued her education in New York City at Columbia University, graduating in 2006 with a doctorate degree. Lauren always had a passion to work with children, doing 2 of her professional affiliations with children in a special needs pre-school and training at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Continuing her passion, Lauren started her career doing early intervention and working in the public schools in NYC. Lauren moved back to New Jersey in 2010, and was excited to work for Children’s Specialized Hospital where she worked with children of all ages and abilities. She has worked there for 7 years with 3 small breaks to have her 3 amazing children. While working at the hospital, Lauren has worked with children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Toe Walking, Developmental Delays, Torticollis, Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury, AMPS, Down Syndrome, Premature babies post NICU, Achondroplasia, SMA and multiple other diagnosis. She has completed many continuing education and training including NDT, massage, kinesiotaping, yoga, breath support and respiratory training. Lauren currently resides in Warren, NJ with her husband, 2 sons and new born daughter. She is excited to join the family at Riverwalk Physical Therapy.
